LLAMADO A LA REFLEXIÓN Y LA ORACIÓN

NOVENARIO DOMINICAL

El Obispo del Sínodo del Caribe de la Iglesia Evangélica Luterana en América, Reverendo Felipe Lozada Montañez, invita al pueblo puertorriqueño a unirse al Novenario Dominical de Reflexión y Oración. Este novenario de la Iglesia Luterana comenzará el domingo 7 de septiembre hasta el 2 de noviembre de 2008. Faltan nueve semanas para que el pueblo ejerza su derecho al voto y elija a los gobernantes del país para los próximos cuatro años.

Los últimos acontecimientos políticos en el país son una muestra del deterioro social que se vive en nuestra isla de Puerto Rico. La incertidumbre, la duda y el temor se han apoderado del pueblo. Un pueblo que busca una luz, una dirección y es por ello que la Iglesia Evangélica Luterana en Puerto Rico comenzará este período de reflexión y oración. La luz es la de Cristo.

En representación de las miles de personas que pertenecen a la Iglesia Luterana es que el Obispo hace un llamado a reflexionar, a colocar los intereses del pueblo primero, exhorta al pueblo a colocarse en el primer lugar. Que las personas que participan del proceso electoral lo hagan de forma informada, con elementos de juicio y anteponiendo los intereses del pueblo a los partidistas y personales.

Que se piense primero en lo que beneficia al pueblo y no a ideologías políticas o líderes políticos. Que cuando haga una marca en la papeleta piense en un líder que trabajará por el pueblo y para el pueblo, uno que lo represente.

En los próximos nueve domingos, antes de las elecciones, en cada congregación luterana, se estará reflexionando y orando sobre temas que afectan al pueblo. [Les acompañamos una tabla que resume el temario y las lecturas.]

Se le pide al pueblo que reflexione sobre las lecturas y que se conteste la pregunta: ¿qué significa para mí?, ¿qué significa para el pueblo?, ¿cómo podemos actuar para mejorar?

Se le pide al liderato político que reflexione y coloque los intereses del pueblo antes que los del partido o movimiento político. Ya el pueblo está en proceso de conocer a quienes le hablan la verdad y actúan a su favor.

Nos unimos al resto del pueblo cristiano puertorriqueño en este período de reflexión comunitaria. El Obispo Lozada invita al pueblo a celebrar este novenario que habremos de culminar en el fin de semana del 31 octubre al 2 noviembre, en un Triduo de Clamor. El viernes 31 de octubre de 2008 estaremos Celebrando los 110 años de Presencia Luterana en Puerto Rico. En este Clamor no seremos las únicas congregaciones cristianas, varias nos estaremos acompañando, como Iglesia de Cristo. Estaremos Clamando a Dios en el Coliseo Municipal de Toa Baja desde las siete de la noche para que nos ilumine, nos dé sabiduría y nos muestre el camino a seguir.

CALL TO THE REFLECTION AND PRAYER
Sunday Novenary

The Bishop of the Caribbean Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, Reverend Felipe Lozada Montañez, invites the people of Puerto Rico to unite to the Sunday Novenary of Reflection and Prayer. This novenary of the Lutheran Church will begin on Sunday September 7 up to November 2, 2008. Only nine weeks are left so that the people that live in Puerto Rico exercise their right to vote and choose the governor of the country for the next four years.

The last political events in the country are a sample of the social deterioration that we are living in our island of Puerto Rico. The uncertainty, the doubt and the fear have taken possession of the country. A country that looks for a light, an direction and it is due to this situation that the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Puerto Rico will begin this period of reflection and prayer. The light that the country is looking for is the light of Christ.

In representation of the thousands of people that are members of the Lutheran Church, the Bishop makes a call to meditate, to place the interests of the country first, he exhorts for the country to be placed in the first place. That those who participate of the electoral process should do it in an informed way, with trial elements and prefixing the interests of the country to the partisans and personal interest.

To first think what benefits the country and not political ideologies or political leaders. That when you cast your vote, to think of the leader that will work for the country, one that represents what's best for all.

In the next nine Sundays, before the elections, in each Lutheran congregation, will be meditating and praying on topics that affect the country. [We accompany a chart that summarizes the themes and the readings.]

We ask the country to meditate on the readings requested and to answer the question: what does it mean for me?, what does it mean for the country?, how can we act to improve?

We ask the political leaders to meditate and place the interests of the country before those of the party or political movement. The town is already in process to know who speaks the truth and act in his/her favor.

We unite to the rest of the Puerto Rican Christian Community in this period of community reflection. Bishop Lozada invites the country to celebrate this Novenary that will culminate in the weekend from the 31 October to the 2 November, in a Three Day Clamour. On Friday October 31, 2008 we will be celebrating the 110 years of Lutheran Presence in Puerto Rico. In this Clamor we won't be the only Christians congregations, several congregations of other denominations will be accompanying us, as Church of Christ. We will be out-crying to God in the Municipal Coliseum of Toa Baja from seven in the night so that God illuminates us, gives us wisdom and shows us the path to continuing.
